FWC identifies woman killed by alligator while swimming in Seminole County
OVIEDO, Fla. (WCJB) - Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officials have released the identity of the woman killed in an alligator attack on Sunday.
Officials say Brittany Clark, 31, of Orlando, was swimming in the Econlockhatchee River in the Little Big Econ State Forest with two others when an alligator attacked.
The alligator bit both of her arms, causing serious injuries. Her boyfriend helped pull her away from the animal. She died at the hospital.
Officers and a nuisance alligator trapper killed a 13-foot alligator near where the attack occurred. They also killed a 12-foot alligator about half a mile away.
Samples from the two animals were sent to a lab in Gainesville for DNA testing to determine if either was responsible for the attack.

The attack was one of a string of alligator bites in Central Florida this month. On Saturday, a boy fishing at Nelson’s Fish Camp in Marion County was bitten on the hand.
In Dunnellon last week, a 19-year-old snorkeler was bitten by an alligator in Rainbow River. He was taken to the hospital and has since been released.
