Deputies say officers attempted to pull Ponder over after he was clocked driving at 94 mph in a 65 mph zone. He allegedly fled instead of pulling over and deputies ended the pursuit by successfully using a PIT maneuver.

After his vehicle came to a stop, Ponder then tried to flee on foot but was apprehended after an officer used a taser, per GCSO.

The sheriff’s office said Ponder was driving on a suspended license and there was probable cause to charge the suspect with driving under the influence.

“Records indicate multiple prior license suspensions dating back to 2016 for matters including failure to appear, child support-related suspensions, driving while license suspended, and DUI-related offenses,” the sheriff’s office said.
