Former Miss NC USA says her title was stripped due to her ‘conservative Christian’ beliefs

DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN/Gray News) - The woman stripped of her Miss North Carolina USA title claims she was removed due to her political and religious beliefs.

A Blaize Productions removed 27-year-old Brittany Boltinhouse from the title after reported previous inflammatory social media posts attributed to her resurfaced following an interview with her about the win.

In a 12-minute interview with the Carolina Journal, Boltinhouse discussed what happened and shared her thoughts on losing the title.

When asked why she believed she was removed, the Duplin County native said, “I believe and think I was stripped from my title because of my political stance and my belief system as a conservative Christian woman.”

Boltinhouse also said she is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, pointing to her Mormon faith as an important part of her identity.

When asked how old she was when the posts circulating that the pageant is pinning this on were made, Boltinhouse responded, “Every teenager has made a mistake — things may have happened decades ago, but I’m here to talk about the hardworking woman standing up there as Miss NC USA that I won fair and square.”

Boltinhouse was not specifically asked if she indeed did make the inflammatory posts, some of them containing racial slurs.

The 27-year-old said she is under a confidentiality clause but believes she has been judged based on what she called an untrue narrative.

Boltinhouse ended the interview by saying she hopes other women see her as an example to stand up for what they believe in, regardless of their platform or belief system.
