Gray shares observations from FAMU football’s second scrimmage
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Florida A&M football kicks off the 2026 season in under two weeks and in preperation, the Rattlers held their second of three fall scrimmages on Saturday.
On Sunday, we caught up with head coach Quinn Gray to talk about what his takeaways were from the scrimmage as the team preps for kickoff.
Gray says his team looked more locked in during their second scrimmage as opposed to their first. His players overall attention is also looks better as some judgement lapses present in the first scrimmage seem to have been left in that past.
Isaiah Knowles, who was officially named starting quarterback in early August, looks confident under center with this offense. He has over 4,700 passing yards over the last two seasons with Albany State.
Gray says the goal continues to be day by day improvements. He won’t reveal his favorite players from the roster, saying it’s the team as a whole he’s excited for and that fans will notice talent emerge throughout the season.
The first year Rattlers head coach shared his observations from Saturday’s scrimmage and what’s on his mind as kick off approches.
“One side of the ball started faster than the other, and then the other side of the ball finished stronger than the other. So we just got to start putting it all together in the next two weeks and make sure that it all comes to a head before Albany State. I can’t necessarily put a finger on which group is this, which group is that, but at the end of the day, the Rattlers are getting better, and that’s really all we’re concerned about,” said Gray. “Then once school starts, we just got to make sure that we’re on point with our academics and making sure that we’re doing things the right way as it relates to being student athletes.”
The Rattlers kick off the season at home against Albany State on August 29.
