TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Florida A&M Rattlers wrapped up their third and final preseason scrimmage at Bragg Memorial Stadium, officially signaling the end of fall camp as Week one looms just around the corner.

Head coach Quinn Gray is entering his first game at the helm for FAMU. After weeks of beating up on each other in practice, the players are eager to face real opponent competition. According to Gray, the final scrimmage gave the coaching staff the insight needed to lock in key depth chart decisions, including announcing the QB2 spot later this week.

While positional battles are coming to a close, Coach Gray stressed that mindset will be the defining factor when the games actually count.

“We can be as good as we want to be, but we have to be focused and locked in all day long,” Gray said. “We can’t come out and start slow and expect to just be able to flip a switch and turn it on. We’ve got to be able to start fast and finish strong.”

Coach Gray acknowledged that while the staff has a solid gauge on where the roster stands, true evaluation only comes when live game situations test their resolve. The Rattlers will get that exact opportunity when they open their season next Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Bragg Memorial Stadium against Albany State.
