TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Two local eateries in downtown Tallahassee are closing their doors.
The Southern Public House and Fat Noodle made the announcement via Facebook on Tuesday. The owner also posted signs outside the restaurants to notify customers.
The Facebook post reads as follows:
"To all our loyal and valued customers. The Southern Pub and Fat Noodle will be closing our doors indefinitely on Friday June 15th. Come help us drink this place out of booze with all day happy hour. All drafts will be $4. As sad as it is to announce all of this to everyone we can still have one hell of a last week. Thank you all again for a wonderful two and a half years."
Some frequent customers said they we're surprised to see the notice.
"It was a complete surprise to me because the food is good and there's always people here," said patron Dwayne Maddron. "The only other places I love are Metro Deli and Goodies. And I hope they stay open, because if not, I don't know where I'd go for a sandwich."
Paige Carter-Smith, CEO of the Downtown Improvement Authority, said the DIA was sad to learn the restaurants are closing.
The group has been encouraging residents to "dine downtown."
She did note that while these two are closing, three additional restaurants are close to opening. Including an Italian steakhouse at the Ballard Building, Aura Restaurant and Bar and the Egg Cafe.
